What blackout and geometric mean
Blackout covers areas of skin with solid black. Geometry adds patterns, mandalas, lines and shapes that repeat or close on themselves. Combined, the black gives weight and the geometry gives structure, which is why many pieces alternate masses of black with linework on the same arm or torso. It is not the same as the traditional blackwork on our blackwork page: here the piece is designed as a full geometric composition over the body, with the black as part of the drawing.
Composition over the body
On arms, hands and torso the design has to follow the anatomy: where a mass of black ends, how a pattern continues across the elbow or the shoulder, what stays visible as you move.
